Real Bone EMIN'S GIANT POUCHED RAT skull Animal Rodent Mammal Taxidermy Collect

Description

A real Bone Skull of an EMIN'S Giant Pouched Rat (Cricetomys emini).  The skull was beetle cleaned, whitened, and degreased with strong peroxide.  The skull is complete with mandible, although I have not glued it to the cranium.  This specimen has full dentition, but the incisors have been worn to the gum.  It also has a break in the left zygomatic.  There is a piece of bone missing because of it. Luckily it displays nicely from the right side.  Please note there may be other flaws that I do not notice as this was once a living thing, and living things rarely show perfection in death. This would be a nice example of the species for a hands-on model or collection.  The skull measures 2.5 inches in length.  These are amongst the largest of true rats and get the name from cheek pouches that they use to collect foods.  For a while they were kept as pets, but now they are difficult skulls to find.  There were actually two species kept--this one and the Gambian.  This is the harder of the two species to locate specimens of--so quite nice for the collector!  It is priced low for the species due to the condition.
PLEASE NOTE:  This species is not CITES listed, nor is it listed as an endangered species; furthermore, it was not taken specifically for its skull but is a by-product of a deceased individual.
