Description

Rare and original, ca1900 Cast Iron, Lever Driven, Advertising Countertop Cigar Cutter in outstanding, professionally restored condition. This beautiful, Nickel Plated, cast iron Cigar Cutter measures approx. 4” tall and 4 5/8” by 3 1/2” at the base. The Countertop Cutter advertises cigar manufacturer S. Ottenberg & Brothers of New York City.
The Cutter features an all cast iron body with all surfaces nickel plated. The top plate features cast text that reads “S. Ottenberg & Bros. N.Y. / Cigar Manufact’rs” and “Twitchell, Champlin & Co. / Portland, ME. / Sole Agents”. There are three different size holes below the text on the top panel. When the lever at the front is depressed, a blade nips off the end of a cigar that has been inserted into any one of the three holes. The Cigar Cutter displays in excellent to near mint, working condition - the blade is sharp and the tension spring strong.
All of the cast iron components of this outstanding, original Advertising Cigar Cutter are in excellent condition - there are no cracks, chips, breaks, repairs or physical damage of any kind. As stated above the Cutter’s mechanism is in excellent, working condition - the blade is sharp and the tension spring strong and the surface has been professionally restored and replated. The wood base is original and the surface of the wood has been refinished.
