    Description

A real bone skull of a SCALY FRANCOLIN or Spurfowl bird (
    Pternistis squamatus
)  The skull was beetle cleaned and whitened with peroxide.  The skull is complete with mandible and has no damage that I can see.  There is a little dried material on the back of the skull, but no damage. The beak sheath has retained the deep red color of the adult bird.  Overall, this is a very nice example of the species.  Please be aware there may be other flaws or damage that I cannot see as this was once a living thing, and living things rarely show perfection in death.  These birds are native to most of Sub-Saharan Africa, but this is not a skull that I have frequently seen for sale even though it is a common game bird.  This is a good chance to get an unusual bird skull for your collection. It is also quite sturdy and makes a good hands-on model.  Best of all, being non-native, it is one of the few bird skulls that are not a part of the migratory bird act that can be used for teaching and legally owned.  The skull is
PLEASE NOTE:  This species rated LEAST CONCERN by the IUCN, meaning it is not endangered.  It is also not a part of the migratory bird act, as this is not a native to the USA plus it is a galliforme of which no species are a part of the MBTA. I will only ship within the USA, I cannot and will not ship Internationally, I am sorry.  All this makes it perfectly legal to sell and own this skull. Furthermore, this animal was not taken specifically for its skull, but is a by-product of a deceased captive bird.
I am sorry, I will only ship within the USA.
