A real bone skull of a MALE BLACK CASQUED HORNBILL (
Ceratogymna atrata
)  The skull was beetle cleaned and whitened with peroxide.  The skull is complete with mandible, although I have not glued it to the cranium.  There is no damage that I can see, and the skull is about as perfect as I have had in a while! The only oddity--it appears he bit down hard on something, and it took a chip off across his upper beak. Whatever he did--it was done in life and not a flaw. Please note there may be other imperfections/flaws that I do not notice, as this was once a living thing, and living things rarely show perfection in death.  That being said this is a FANTASTIC skull.  It is almost 8 inches long and the casque is particularly nice--standing 4.5 inches tall.  The casque is also very symmetrical--making it proportionally superior. This was a big old boy. They are deceptively lightweight and absolutely fascinating!  This is a good chance to get an unusual bird skull for your collection. It displays nicely and would be a great addition for the collector.  Best of all, being non-native it is one of the few bird skulls that are not a part of the migratory bird act and can be legally owed and used for hands on models in teaching, for the collection, or art material.  I cannot stress how nice this individual is. If you have been looking for a nice one with no holes or damaging flaws--this is it!
PLEASE NOTE:  This species is NOT a CITES animal (meaning it is not endangered) nor is it a part of the Migratory Bird Act as it is a non-native animal to the US.  This makes it perfectly legal to sell and own this skull. Furthermore, this animal was not taken specifically for its skull but is a by-product of a deceased bird.
